I miss Miss Sally's Playhouse.
These are two playlists I recorded from 2 summers ago: July 3, 2005 June 19, 2005
People are slow to catch on to lots of bands, and I like listening to bands before they get signed to major labels. But Miss Sally was at least a year ahead of me with her new music.

I just need to mention that in my art history class this semester, when I wrote a paper that I thought was my best, I got a crappy grade. But when I wrote a paper that I wasn't excited about, or incomplete according to what I had intended, the professor loved it.
I'm glad I'm done with that class. And I still have an LJ, what?

Kind of still in progress, but mostly done. The sad party is I've been trying to put a website together for like a year and a half now, and this site really only took 2 days to make. That is, 2 days given that I know exactly what I'm doing and what I want.

In other news, one of my internet last.fm friends sent me a song by a band that just played at the Grog Shop tonight. I never heard of them before yesterday, and now I'm keeping my eye out for their upcomming new album this month. Love of Diagrams is from Australia, so if I could have gone to the show, I'm assuming I could have got an imported CD at regular price! But homework...

Screen & Things is finally over and now I can sleep.
( This is what I printed )
My hands were dirty because I was teaching people how to print and I didn't get around to mine until it was time to clean up. Tran helped too (especially when I was stuck in the back washing screens because someone was supposed to bring a bucket, and she forgot even after I totally reminded her while she was loading the car). Thanks Tran! The people that I personally oversaw had flawless prints, so I'm very proud. In that sense, the people I instructed had better prints then me. I can't use it for a portfoltio because it's messy. Booo. Even after I ruined an awesome sweater and pair of jeans in the bathroom trying to wash 20"x30"ish screens in a hand sink, I still had a good time.
Now I can only sleep but eat too. After 8 hours of sleep and 3 meals over the last 2 days, I was starting to feel lightheaded. At this pointing, I'm literally thinking "If I passed out, then I wouldn't have to study for my midterms. Awesome!" I put so much time and initiative into this event. 5 hours before the program, I went back to Utrech myself and bought a pad of tacky paper because we had screens - but nothing to block the screens. Does that make any sense? I also brought my own masking take - the wide roll because it's excellent for screen printing - and dish soap to wash the screens. I told the person in charge of supplies that we needed lots and lots of masking tape. She told me 1 thin roll would be enough. It wasn't.
I really helps to know what you're doing so you can by the right materials. And no one pours the ink directly from the can onto the middle of the design and then spreads it in arbitrary directions until it appears to cover the design. Actually, a skilled eye can determine whether the ink has actually penetrated the screen or merely covered the surface, but I didn't want to say anything. Ok, I'll stop being arogant.
I made the promo, submitted the promo for printing, picked up the promo from printing services and posted everything myself. That's hardcore DIY.
It's amazing how much time you realize you have when all the pressure ends.

This is my first project where I significantly combined illustrator and photoshop. Usually I just do one task in the other program because it's more convenient, but this time I had to use both programs.
The event logo and the text warp is illusrtator and everything else (i.e. light and texture) is photoshop.

The deadline for the annual logo competition in approaching and I've got 2 designs ready. I've developed a lot in terms of applying design principles since this time a year ago.

I would say that there are 3 reasons to visit Canada (and they've toured together, making the trip totally irresistible). But now there is only 1:
1. You Say Party! We Say Die!
2. controller.controller
3. Death from above 1979
The lead singer in controller.controller left, which means the band will never be the same. MSTRKRFT is interesting, but I don't believe they can live up to the stature of DFA1979.

| You Are 82% Indie | You're so indie, it's kind of amazing that you actually found your way to this quiz. Generally, your tastes are genuinely indie... but sometimes you like something just because it's weird! |
